PowerUp Kids ("the app," "we," "us") is a daily-routine and gamification app for families, built to support kids who benefit from extra structure, including many with ADHD and autism. This policy applies to the app and its companion website. It's written to comply with Apple's App Store Kids Category guidelines (1.2, 1.3, and 5.1.4(b)) and the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
PowerUp Kids is a parent-managed app. A parent (or guardian) creates the account and controls every child profile on it. A child never creates their own account, never enters an email address, and never has independent access to change settings, billing, or anything outside their own daily checklist.
| Data | From whom | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Parent, at sign-up | To create and secure the account, and for account-related communication (password resets, support). |
| Child's first name or nickname, and a chosen emoji avatar | Entered by the parent | To personalize that child's screen inside the app. |
| Daily routine (task names, times, descriptions) | Entered by the parent (Premium) | To display and track that child's daily missions. |
| Task completions, points, levels, streaks, mood/focus/energy check-ins, mini-game scores | Generated by the child's use of the app | To power the app's progress tracking, gamification, and the optional Progress Report a parent can generate. |
| A public nickname (e.g. "Swift Dragon 482") and best game scores | Auto-generated; only sent anywhere if a parent opts a child in | Powers the optional worldwide leaderboard. Off by default for every child. |
We do not collect a child's full legal name, date of birth, physical address, phone number, photo, or precise location. We do not collect any payment information directly — if you purchase Premium through the App Store or Google Play, that transaction is handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies; we only receive confirmation that a purchase was made.
We do not use this data for advertising, and we do not share, sell, or rent it to any third party. The app contains no third-party analytics SDKs and no ad networks — this isn't a policy promise layered on top of tracking code, there simply isn't any in the app.
Data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), a cloud database provider. Firebase applies its own security and encryption to data in transit and at rest. Access to a family's data is restricted by security rules enforced on Firebase's servers — a signed-in parent can only ever read or write their own family's data, and a linked child device can only ever check off tasks and update play data for that one child, never see another family's data, another child's data, or change settings, routines, or billing. These rules aren't just a policy — they're enforced by the database itself and were tested against exactly this scenario before launch.
Because this is content one user (a child, via their parent) can create that becomes visible to other users, we built it with extra care:
We're aware this app is likely to be used by children under 13, and we've built it accordingly:
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or how we use it, we'll update the "Effective" date above and, for a material change, make a reasonable effort to notify parents through the app.
